Terms of Service
Please read these terms carefully before using our services or submitting items for cleaning, repair, or restoration.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using the services provided by Davis Shoe Shop, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services. These terms apply to all customers, visitors, and users of our leather cleaning, repair, and restoration services.
We reserve the right to update or modify these terms at any time without prior notice. Your continued use of our services following any changes indicates your acceptance of the new terms.
2. Service Description
Davis Shoe Shop provides professional leather cleaning, repair, alteration, and restoration services for leather clothing, accessories, and garments. Our services include but are not limited to:
- Deep cleaning and conditioning treatments
- Repair services including stitching, patching, and zipper replacement
- Color restoration and dyeing services
- Custom alterations and modifications
- Leather assessment and consultation
3. Estimates and Pricing
All services require a written estimate provided after physical inspection of your items. The initial quote is based on the assessment at that time. Additional charges may apply if:
- Hidden damage is discovered during processing that wasn't visible during initial assessment
- You request additional services beyond the original scope of work
- Multiple items require work beyond the initial inspection
- Special materials or techniques are required that weren't anticipated
We will always contact you for approval before proceeding with any work that would result in charges exceeding the original estimate by more than 15%.
4. Turnaround Time
Estimated completion times are provided at the time of service booking and are based on current workload and the complexity of work required. While we make every effort to meet estimated deadlines, Davis Shoe Shop cannot be held responsible for delays caused by:
- Workload fluctuations and scheduling constraints
- Supply chain issues affecting product availability
- Weather-related disruptions or force majeure events
- Customer delay in providing required information or approvals
For time-sensitive projects, we recommend discussing rush service options and associated fees at the time of initial consultation.
5. Customer Responsibilities
When you entrust your items to Davis Shoe Shop, you agree to:
- Provide accurate information about the condition of your items and any known issues
- Disclose any previous treatments, repairs, or modifications to the leather
- Notify us of any sentimental or monetary value exceeding standard coverage
- Pick up your items within 30 days of notification of completion
- Pay for services rendered according to our payment terms
Items left unclaimed for more than 60 days after completion notice may be disposed of according to applicable state regulations regarding abandoned property.
6. Liability and Insurance
While your items are in our custody, they are covered under our comprehensive liability insurance policy. This coverage applies to loss, damage, or destruction occurring while items are in our possession for the purpose of performing requested services.
Coverage limits are based on the declared value of items at the time of service booking. For items of exceptional value (over $1,000), we may require additional documentation or recommend specialized coverage. Our liability for any single item is limited to the lesser of the declared value or the actual cost of restoration or replacement.
We are not responsible for pre-existing conditions that affect the outcome of our work, including but not limited to: sun fading, wear patterns, age-related deterioration, previous improper repairs, or damage from inadequate prior care.
7. Satisfaction Policy
We take pride in our craftsmanship and want you to be completely satisfied with our services. If upon receipt you find that the work performed does not meet reasonable expectations based on the original service description:
- Contact us within 7 days of item pickup to report any concerns
- We will arrange for free re-assessment of the work performed
- If the concern is valid, we will re-service the item at no additional charge
- Re-service work will be completed within our standard turnaround time
This satisfaction policy does not cover changes in personal preference, normal wear following service, or damage occurring after item pickup.
8. Color Matching and Restoration
For color restoration and dyeing services, we make every effort to match colors as closely as possible. However, please note that:
- Perfect color matching cannot be guaranteed, especially for heavily faded or sun-damaged items
- Results may vary based on the original dye composition, leather condition, and previous treatments
- We will provide color samples for approval before proceeding with full treatment when requested
- Natural variations in leather grain and texture may affect color appearance
Color restoration on vintage or heavily worn items may result in a refreshed appearance rather than a complete color overhaul, and results should be evaluated accordingly.
9. Payment Terms
Payment for services is due at the time of pickup. We accept cash, credit cards, and debit cards. For orders exceeding $200, we may require a deposit of up to 50% at the time of service booking.
Deposits are non-refundable if the customer cancels the service after work has commenced. If we are unable to complete the work as agreed, the deposit will be fully refunded or applied to alternative services at customer discretion.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Davis Shoe Shop's total liability for any claims arising from our services shall not exceed the total amount paid for the specific services that gave rise to the claim.
In no event shall Davis Shoe Shop be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of use, or loss of data, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
11. Intellectual Property
You retain all ownership rights to your leather items and the original materials. By using our services, you grant us a limited license to use photographic representations of your items (with identifying features obscured) for portfolio, marketing, or educational purposes unless you specifically opt out by notifying us in writing at the time of service booking.
12. Privacy and Data Protection
Information collected during the service process is used solely for the purpose of providing our services and improving customer experience. We do not sell or share personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. For complete details on how we handle your data, please review our Privacy Policy.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these terms or our services shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation between the parties.
If negotiation does not resolve the dispute, the matter may be submitted to binding arbitration in Yolo County, California, in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
